Donations Needed for Homeless Children and Youth
The Wichita Public Schools McKinney-Vento Homeless program is currently serving over 1,600 homeless children and youth in Wichita. The program is currently looking for donations to assist the families. Hygiene products, hats, mittens, blankets, toys, canned good items and monetary donations are needed. The program will be collecting the items until December 15th and will begin distributing them to the families the week of December 17th. If you would like to donate you may bring your items to the McKinney-Vento office at 201 N. Water, RM 530. If you would like your donation to be picked up, please call the office. Student volunteers from the WSU School of Social Work, West, South and East High School volunteered to assist the McKinney-Vento program prepare for the 2012-2013 school year. The student volunteers assisted with putting together parent packets, back packs with school supplies and sorting uniforms. We appreciated their help and time.
